Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started with Mercury Wire

Getting started with a new project at Mercury Wire is straightforward and collaborative. Begin by contacting our team to discuss your specific needs and requirements. We’ll arrange an initial consultation to understand your application, performance specs, and challenges. Our engineering team will then work with you to design a custom solution, provide prototypes, and refine the product based on your feedback.

You can expect a partnership-oriented approach focused on your success. From the initial consultation to production, we work closely with you to deliver tailored solutions. Our lean, U.S.-based manufacturing, engineering collaboration, and customer-first approach ensure high-quality, on-time results with responsive communication.

Look for a supplier with a proven track record, engineering support, manufacturing flexibility, and a commitment to long-term success. Mercury Wire offers all of this with an emphasis on custom solutions, reliability, and a true partnership approach.

Custom Cable Design & Engineering

If your application has unique environmental, mechanical, or electrical requirements—or if off-the-shelf options have failed—custom is often the better long-term choice. Custom cables offer greater control over performance, inventory, length, packaging, and continuity of supply.

Absolutely. Our engineering team works with you from concept to production, assisting with material selection, design optimization, and prototyping to ensure your cable performs reliably under real-world conditions.

We use a range of materials including PVC, TPE, PTFE, and custom rubber compounds, chosen for their performance in harsh environments, flexibility, and application fit.

We offer braided, foil, and combination shielding. Braided shielding is ideal for high-flex applications due to its durability and resilience under repeated motion.

Yes. We specialize in integrated cable assemblies, built to spec, tested, and ready to perform in challenging environments.

Yes, we provide full connectorization services—standard or custom—based on your application’s needs.

Yes. We design and build wire harnesses that integrate multiple cables, connectors, and overmolding into a streamlined system.

We do both. Many long-term customer relationships started with low-volume prototypes that scaled over time.

Lead Times & Production

It depends on complexity and materials, but prototypes can often be delivered within 1–2 weeks, and full production in 3–6 weeks. Our lean manufacturing and in-house engineering help keep lead times fast and predictable.

Through lean production, smart scheduling, and collaborative forecasting, we reduce wait times and improve delivery reliability.

Each order includes engineering consultation, custom design, prototyping, rigorous testing, and optional inventory and delivery services.

Compliance & Documentation

Yes. We support UL, CSA, CE, RoHS, REACH, WEEE, and other standards. We provide full traceability, certificates of compliance, and industry-specific documentation packages.
