It depends. Because Mercury is open and there is work available, you are generally not eligible for regular Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits. (Mercury has not had any layoffs or furloughs.) Depending on your unique situation, you may be eligible for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) benefits. An overview of the different programs can be found here.
The full details of the various unemployment programs and benefits continue to change and evolve. Eligibility for unemployment is unique to your own individual situation and therefore we encourage you to get the latest information directly from the Massachusetts website here.
Please be aware that enrolling for unemployment benefits could affect your eligibility for certain Mercury benefits and possibly your employment status with Mercury. We are trying to get more information about eligibility and status, but the state and federal guidelines are currently unclear or unavailable. We encourage you to learn what you can about the short-term and long-term considerations so that you fully understand your options. While Mercury cannot make specific recommendations, we can provide you with additional information if you have questions.
